Stephen K. Young, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Young was born and raised in Western New York.  He obtained his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University.  Professional interests include surgery, dentistry, diagnostic ultrasound and acupuncture.  He has owned the Animal Hospital of Willow Street since October of 2001.  Dr. Young married his wife, Stephanie in 1991 and they reside in Willow Street. Their oldest, Allyson is a RN, currently working as a travel nurse.  Nathaniel, their youngest, is currently a psychology major at D’Youville college.  They have two Australian Shepard’s, Cisco and Joules.  When not working, he enjoys training for and competing in triathlons and camping.

Marc V. Olson, DVM

Veterinarian

Born and raised in Connecticut, Dr. Olson graduated from Elizabethtown College in May 1993 with a major in Biology and minor in Bio-Chemistry.  In June 1998 he graduated from Ohio State University with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  He has worked as an associate veterinarian here at the Animal Hospital of Willow Street since July 1999.  Dr. Olson's special professional interests include pocket pet medicine, behavioral studies, and as well as evaluating the best companion for a family.  In June 1993 he married his college sweetheart, Jennifer, they welcomed their daughter, Alexis in 2005.  They also have two cats, Jag and Zoe.

Dr. Olson is involved in his church, including chairing the community meal program.  When not working, he enjoys spending time with Jennifer and Alexis, as well as reading, watching movies, hiking and kayaking.

Stephanie Young, RN

Office Manager

Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Stephanie spent 10 years living near Buffalo, New York.  While there, she earned her Registered Nursing degree and worked with children with Cerebral Palsy.  When not at work, she and her husband are visiting their children, the oldest is a Registered Nurse in Ohio and the youngest is attending college in Western New York.  She also has two dogs, Cisco and Joules, at home.  During her down time, Stephanie competes in “fun runs.”  She has competed in the ING Half Marathon in Philadelphia, as well as participated in the Garden Spot Marathon for the second time.  She has also tried her hand at triathlons such as the “Hempfield Tri for Life” and the “Got the Nerve” in Mount Gretna.

Karen Summers

Kennel Manager/Groomer

Born and raised on a dairy farm in Oxford, PA.  Karen attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian College majoring in biology.  Fresh out of school she worked in the large animal field at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA.  She worked there until her son was born and then moved to the Willow Street area.  Karen started working here as a kennel assistant in October 2000 and is now our kennel manager.  She currently has three dogs, a Beagle named Darla, an English Bulldog mix named Bob & an English Bulldog named Budda.

Melissa Aaron, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Melissa graduated from Wilson College in 2012 with her bachelors in veterinary medical technology.  When she has free time, it’s spent at the horse barn or gym.  She loves movies, music and playing her violin in several groups.  Melissa has two visually impaired cats named Yoda and Ren.

Jessica McLane

Front Desk Manager

Jess was born in York County but grew up in Southern Lancaster County until moving to Troy, PA where she graduated from high school.  We are happy to welcome Jess back as part of the AHWS team. She returned in May of 2015 from Tractor Supply Co., where she spent four years, two as assistant manager.  She has three young children, a son, Nathan Lee, a daughter, Jamie Lynn, and a son, David Walker.  Jess and her husband, Troy were married August 27th, 2016.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, fishing, camping and just spending time with her family.  They have a dog, Jasper, who is an English/American Bulldog Mix and a Torti cat, Patch.

Jyl Snyder, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Jyl was born and raised in Southern Lancaster County.  She has been a teacher/professor of German for over 30 years.  In 2007 she decided to pursue an additional career in veterinary medicine.  While working as a receptionist at a veterinary practice and as a nursing assistant at an emergency clinic, she studied veterinary technology at Harcum College, from which she graduated in May 2012.  She passed her boards in August 2012 to become a certified veterinary technician.  Although partial to cats (she has several ones of her own), Jyl loves anything that crawls, swims, climbs, slithers, or flies.  In her spare time she likes to travel, paint pottery, play the piano, and hang out with her husband and their furry children.

Trishia Mayberry, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, Trishia went to Lancaster County CTC and graduated as a veterinary assistant in June 2012.  From there she went on to the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh and graduated in March 2014 as a veterinary technician.  Since then she has acquired her license as a certified veterinary technician in December of 2014.  Trishia has 4 cats; Stanley, Evelyn, Gouda, and Murry, and 2 dogs; Astro (Great Dane) and Radar (Shepard mix).

Sarah Wieland

Veterinary Technician

Sarah Wieland, Veterinary Technician

Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, Sarah graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 2011 and Lancaster County CTC in 2012 as a veterinary assistant.  She graduated from Harcum College in May 2015 with a veterinary technician degree. Sarah worked as a kennel assistant with AHWS for two years prior to becoming a technician.  She lives on a farm in Lancaster with a dog, three cats, and one horse.   When Sarah is not working, she enjoys spending time with her three sibling, family and friends.  Traveling, reading and baking keep Sarah busy during her down time.

Kylee Shindle

Certified Veterinary Technician

Kylee has lived in this area her entire life.  She currently resides in Strasburg, PA.  She graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School and the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in 2016. She graduated from LCCTC’s Veterinary Technician program with her Associate of Science degree and passed her boards in 2018. She participated in an internship with our office from April-June 2016, from there, Kylee became a member of our team as a Kennel Assistant and Receptionist. She currently works wherever she is needed, but primarily works at the front desk.  She lives with her mother and father.  They have two pets: a golden retriever mix named Leroy Jethro Gibbs and a cat named Romeo. In her spare time, Kylee enjoys playing video games, reading, drawing and running the occasional 5K.

Chantel Santora

Kennel Assistant

Born in Killeen Texas, Chantel moved to Pennsylvania when she was 5½.  She has lived in Southern Lancaster County ever since.  She graduated from both Penn Manor High School and Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in 2016.  She went to CTC’s Veterinary Assistant program and joined our team as a Kennel Assistant once she graduated. Chantel and her boyfriend, Andrew, met in high school and they have a son named Colten. They also have a black lab named Sadie. When Chantel is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her son and daughter, being outside, or driving around.

Emily Schmertz

Veterinary Technician

Emily is a native of Lancaster county, born and raised with her two brothers.   After high school she attended the Willow Street CTC (Lancaster Career & Technology Center) to earn her Veterinary Technician degree in 2019.  Emily joined the AHWS team in July of 2020. Outside of work she enjoys reading and hanging out with friends and family.  She has two cats, Petie and Chloe, they are both 13 years old.

Cassey Summers

Client Relations Specialist 

Cassey is a graduate of Red Lion High School and has been part of our team since 2019 as a Client Relations Specialist.  She previously worked as a receptionist for a local chiropractor and a aid for Solanco School District.  Cassey and her husband moved to Quarryville in 2004 to raise her son and daughter, Jaden and Paige.  Her family also includes a cat named Corona, bunny named Cocoa, and a Bearded Dragon named Reptar.  When not in the office, you will find her shopping, traveling and spending time with her family.

Nicole Cisney

Client Relations Specialist 

Nicole was born and raised in New Providence, Pa..  During high school she showed beef cattle (Angus) while in the FFA & 4-H clubs.   After high school she waitressed for 18 years, then went back to school to become a CNA (certified nursing assistant).  Nicole was excited for a change so she decided to join the AHWS team in May of 2021.  She has been married to her husband, Zach, for the past three years and has a nine years old son, Chris.  Skeeter, Zoe-mae, and Stella, three domestic short hair kitties, keep Nicole and her family entertained.   During her free time she enjoys working in her garden, fishing with her son, and spending time with family at their cabin in Tioga Co.

Ivy Haynes

Kennel Assistant

Ivy is from New Providence Pennsylvania and always had a love for animals. She has four cats; three Scottish Folds, and a Persian.  Along with her cats, she also has a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Leo, and her current steer, Ozzy, which she raises and shows at the Solanco Fair.  Outside of work Ivy loves going to the mountains and showing livestock. She plans on going to school to become a Veterinary Technician, in order to continue a career with animals.

Abbegayle Ezard

Kennel Assistant

Abbegayle, along with her brother and sister, was born and raised in Lancaster County by her parents. She went to Penn Manor High School, and in her senior year attended LCCTC’s Veterinary Assistant program, and became Fear-Free certified.  Abbe graduated in 2021, and is currently working towards her Associate’s degree in the LCCTC’s Veterinary Technician program. She has worked at Musser’s and Giant at the Buck for most of her high school tenure, in December of last year, she joined the Animal Hospital of Willow Street team as a Kennel Assistant. Abbegayle enjoys venturing to new places, especially zoos and places where wildlife is abundant. She has two cats, Clea and Nyx. Her two nieces and one nephew, who she loves very much, are doted on with gifts and attention!

Nathaniel Young

Kennel Assistant

Nathaniel is a welcome addition to your AHWS team.  He was born in Buffalo, New York, but has resided in Willow Street since his parents moved here when he was 6 months old.  He is currently a Psychology major at D’Youville College, located in upstate New York and is not too far from where the Buffalo Bills play.   Nathaniel is an Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 56 in Strasburg, and one of the highlights of his scouting career was when he attended Philmont Scout Ranch, a high adventure camp, in Cimmeron, New Mexico in 2015 and then again in 2018, where he spent 10 days backpacking in the mountains with members of his troop.  The Buffalo Bills are his favorite sports team win or loose (usually lose), and he looks for any opportunity to attend their games.  To Nathaniel, family and pets are most important, and he makes a point of spending as much time as possible with them.
